Preventing Type 2 Diabetes by Dr. Lori MacCallum for Pharmacy Practice
Diabetes is the leading cause of adult-onset blindness, kidney failure and non-traumatic lower extremity amputations. 90% of diabetes is type 2 and many of these cases may be preventable. This article reviews prevention strategies using medications and lifestyle interventions and explores how pharmacists may play a role in helping their patients prevent type 2 diabetes.
